Steytlerville Accommodation
Come and visit us at our beautiful farm in the Steytlerville district and experience true Karoo hospitality! We offer game drives, horse riding, walking and mountain biking trails in some of the most spectacularly scenic areas of our country. Our facilities include beautifully restored freestanding cottages with old wooden floors and ceilings. They are self contained. We can accommodate groups of up to 15 people.
Your Hosts
Lian and Karen Erasmus welcomes you to their magical farm situated in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Dorschfontein Guest Farm is half way between Addo Elephant National Park and the Baviaans Kloof Mega Reserve on the route between Port Elizabeth and Graaff- Reinet. The farm has been in the family for 5 generations, more than a hundred years!
Karoo Cuisine
We use only the best Family Recipes passed down and bettered from generation to generation. Expect to eat like kings at Dorschfontein! We produce our own Organic Game biltong and droëwors. Braai packs and firewood available Freshly baked farm bread/Roosterkoek. We cater for vegetarians, vegans and any other special diets.
Experiences
Game drives, Mule wagon rides, 4 x 4 Trails (your own vehicle or quad bike) Mountain biking, Star Gazing, Bird Watching, Horse Riding, Bushman Rock Art, Mountain Climbing, Pony Rides for the kiddies and they can feed and touch the animals. Guests can also take part in the life of the working farm.
Wildlife
Vast Quantities of Wildlife to explore! Steenbuck, Duiker, Klipspringer, Impala, Springbuck, White Springbuck, Gemsbuck, Kudu, Waterbuck and Wildebeest, Baboon, Monkey, Porcupine, Hyrax (dassie) Springhare, Rock rabbit, Warthog, Aardvark, Bushpig, Jackal and Caracal. Also a wide variety of birds like the Blue Crane, Kori Bustard, Weavers or the rare Black Eagle.
Horse and Pony Riding
Horse rides are available on request. Whether you are a seasoned saddler or just a pony ride for your kids.
Star Gazing
The absense of city lights, the dry atmosphere and clear skies makes Steytlerville the ideal place to watch stars. Guests from the city usually can’t believe how many are visible!

Awesome 50 km of mountain biking trails to explore! For the faint of heart there are easy rides, but for the fit and daring there are some hair-raising, but beautiful, mountain trails.
